Neck & Back Pain

Neck and back pain is the experience of unpleasant sensations in one or more areas of your neck, mid and upper back, or low back. Spine pain can be brought about by any number of causes and may bring on symptoms in other areas of your body. At Lotus Polyclinic we diagnose it using X-Ray & offer various treatments for the same such as:

  • Calcium doses for the bones.
  • Posture training.
  • Physiotherapy Treatment.

Spinal cord injury & Rehabilitation

The spinal cord is very sensitive to injury. Unlike other parts of your body, the spinal cord does not have the ability to repair itself if it is damaged. A spinal cord injury occurs when there is damage to the spinal cord either from trauma, loss of its normal blood supply, or compression from tumor or infection. Spinal cord injuries are described as either complete or incomplete. In a complete spinal cord injury there is complete loss of sensation and muscle function in the body below the level of the injury. In an incomplete spinal cord injury there is some remaining function below the level of the injury. In most cases both sides of the body are affected equally. We at Lotus Polyclinic help you manage all types of spinal injuries.

Knee Pain

Age Related Knee Pain

Knee pain is common in older age, often caused by osteoarthritis (the wearing away of knee cartilage). When the cartilage is gone, the bones rub against each other, and you end up with pain, stiffness, and swelling. We at Lotus Polyclinic help you in managing the knee pain. Some of the things which can be done in order to avoid knee pain can be:

  • Strengthen the muscles.
  • Lose excess weight.
  • Increase range of motion.

Sports Injury Related Knee Pain

The knee is one of the most common body parts to be injured. Types of common knee injuries include sprains, strains, bursitis, dislocations, fractures, meniscus tears, and overuse injuries. Knee injuries are generally caused by twisting or bending force applied to the knee, or a direct blow, such as from sports, falls, or accidents. Risk factors for knee injury include overuse, improper training, having osteoporosis, and playing high-impact sports that involve sudden changes in direction. The main signs and symptoms of knee injury are knee pain and swelling. We at Lotus Polyclinic help you cure every type of injury. Prevention of knee pain and injuries involves:

  • Proper training,
  • Proper equipment,
  • Maintaining a safe playing field or home environment to avoid falls.

Age related bone problems

Osteoporosis is a common problem, especially for older women. Bones break more easily. Compression fractures of the vertebrae can cause pain and reduce mobility.

Muscle weakness contributes to fatigue, weakness, and reduced activity tolerance. Joint problems ranging from mild stiffness to debilitating arthritis (osteoarthritis) are very common.

The risk of injury increases because gait changes, instability, and loss of balance may lead to falls.

Some older people have reduced reflexes. This is most often caused by changes in the muscles and tendons, rather than changes in the nerves. Decreased knee jerk or ankle jerk can occur. Some changes, such as a positive Babinski reflex, are not a normal part of aging.

Involuntary movements (muscle tremors and fine movements called fasciculations) are more common in the older people. Older people who are not active may have weakness or abnormal sensations (paresthesias).

People who are unable to move on their own, or who do not stretch their muscles with exercise, may get muscle contractures.

At Lotus Polyclinic we help you to reduce these problems by offering various treatments.

Bone problems above 40 at Menopause

Women can lose up to 20% of their bone density in the 5 to 7 years after the menopause. The drop in bone density is caused by falling levels of the female hormone oestrogen. Oestrogen helps to protect bone strength. Although your bone density decreases at the menopause, your risk of osteoporosis (weak bones) and fractures (broken bones) stays relatively low until you get much older. This is because bone density is only one of the things that affects your bone strength. However, the menopause is a good time to take stock and adopt a healthier, bone-friendly lifestyle. We at Lotus Polyclinic help you to adapt bone-friendly lifestyle.

Fracture Fixation & Rehabilitation

A broken bone must be carefully stabilized and supported until it is strong enough to handle the body's weight and movement. Until the last century, physicians relied on casts and splints to support and stabilize the bone from outside the body. The advent of sterile surgical procedures reduced the risk of infection, allowing doctors to internally set and stabilize fractured bones.

During a surgical procedure to set a fracture, the bone fragments are first repositioned (reduced) into their normal alignment. They are held together with special implants, such as plates, screws, nails and wires.

Most fractured (broken) bones will heal in usually six weeks. But that is only half of the problem.

Unfortunately when you have enough stress placed through your body to fracture a bone there's usually a lot of other soft tissues and structures that have been damaged in the process. Add to that the common use of immobilisation in plaster, you'll have joint stiffness and considerable muscle weakness.

This may even effect joints that don't seem related to the break. For example, a fractured shoulder may result in a very stiff elbow or wrist just because you were keeping your shoulder in a sling for a few weeks.

We at Lotus Polyclinic give you the best quality treatment & rehabilitation facilities.
